Hightower Trail Tech Trek Camporee

Posted by jwhite on Sep 13 2021 - 3:33pm

The scouts decided to join the Bert Adams Trail Tech Camporee weekend on Sept 17-19.

Bert Adams is a favorite spot, and this weekend will focus on "Tech" , both old and new, including rockets, balloons, lighting, and all sorts of other cool stuff (please see attached form for more details).

We'll soon have the packing list and permission slip, and since this one is fairly close with a low registration fee for the camp itself, trip costs should be lower than most.

Scout weekend at Talladega Speedway - October 1st-3rd

Posted by jwhite on Aug 30 2021 - 3:14pm

The trip will consist of three races - Truck races and the Fall Xfinity Series Race on Saturday, and the Yellawood 500 on Sunday at 1 PM.  Registration is open on our website, and you must register by September 16th.

The scouts will be camping in a scout designated campground with potable water and freshly installed Porta Johns. There is a campground bath house within a few minutes walking distance for showers if they choose.

It's a great deal at only $15 per scout admission and $55 per adult, and if they would like a PitPass to get an up close look at the pits the pass is $27. We will have the usual food and transportation costs as well.

This trip will have a later return time than usual. The Sunday race starts at 1PM CST and they usually last about 3 hours. From the end of the race back to the vehicles and out of the speedway usually takes an hour to hour and a half, and then it's 2 hours plus to get home, so ETA is 8:30-9:00 Sunday night.

Youth Protection Training for all Adults

Posted by jwhite on Nov 30 2020 - 3:11pm

Youth Protection training must be taken every two years, and most adults in the troop need to go ahead and retake the course.

You do not have to be a registered adult to take this training, but everyone working with the boys or attending trips are required to be updated on their Youth Protection training. This training is for the boy's protection as well as yours.

Log into the following link for your training.  If you do not have an account, then you can create one.
